Queensbay Mall in Bayan Lepas, Penang, has turned its central atrium into a Deepavali showcase. A giant peacock takes centre stage.
The mall calls its campaign Wings of Light. It runs from 15 October to 10 November 2026, with dance shows and workshops along the way.
The Wings of Light display is the centrepiece. Here is what it looks like, which events are planned, and when to go.
The giant peacock at the heart of the atrium

The release places the display in the central atrium, which is also the venue for the shows. The mall says the peacock symbolises beauty, grace and splendour. It sits high in the main atrium, and the mall describes its plumage as magnificent.
In our photos, the peacock rests on a raised platform lined with small oil lamps. Teal and purple feathers fan out behind it.
Above it, hanging lanterns, gold and purple drapes and coloured discs fill the atrium. Meanwhile, rangoli-style patterns cover the floor around the stage.

The mall says the display creates an enchanting experience for shoppers and visitors. It adds that the transformation celebrates the spirit of Deepavali.
Guests at the launch included Peter Chan, general manager of Gurney Plaza, Queensbay Mall and East Coast Mall. Tourism Malaysia Northern Region director Abdul Hadi Che Man and Queensbay centre manager Sylvester Soh also attended.
Wings of Light is also built for photos. The mall invites visitors to capture moments against the peacock-inspired decor.
Dance shows and workshops to look out for

Dance & Rhythm performances by Arumugam Dance Academy take place at the Ground Floor Central Atrium. The dates are 25 October, 31 October and 1 November, each at 3pm.
Furthermore, 7 November is the busiest day. World Sight Day, with St Nicholas’ Home, Penang, starts at 10am in the same atrium.
Later that day, the O-Kids Club runs two workshops for young visitors. A peacock felt keychain workshop starts at 2pm.
Next, a rangoli art workshop starts at 4pm. It introduces children to the traditional art of rangoli.
In total, the release lists six events across four dates. Three are dance shows, and three fall on 7 November.
The mall says the events suit families of all backgrounds. It wants visitors to appreciate the richness of Deepavali traditions.
Dates and planning your Queensbay Mall visit

The celebrations run from 15 October to 10 November 2026. Deepavali itself falls on Sunday 8 November, so the display stays up for two more days.
Mark the calendar: the last dance show is on 1 November. Then comes the 7 November trio, before the display ends on 10 November.
The release does not say whether the workshops are free. It also gives no age range for the O-Kids Club sessions, and no booking details.
Therefore, check the mall’s website or social media before you bring children. Time slots may fill early on 7 November, so plan ahead.
Penang visitors have another new mall to watch. See our report on The Waterfront Shoppes, which soft-opens on 29 October.
