Terengganu enters the Malaysia Book of Records after producing a half kilometre-long ‘pulut kuning’ (yellow glutinous rice) for the Hulu Terengganu Entrepreneurs Carnival.
A gotong-royong effort from 37 Kuala Berang Village Development and Security
Committee (JKKK) members, led by Mohd Zawawi Ismail, managed to churn out the
dish which spanned 487.5 metres and measured four centimetres high and four
centimetres wide.
“In 2003, we made a pulut kuning which was 135 metres long. However, that
record was broken by Perak when they came up with a 400-metre creation in 2009.
“We can’t accept defeat so we’ve made one even longer to reclaim the title in the Book Of Records,” said Mohd Zawawi who is also Kuala Berang assemblyman.
He was speaking to reporters after the launch of the Hulu Terengganu Entrepreneurs Carnival by Terengganu speaker, Tengku Putera Tengku Awang,

Mohd Nawawi said the traditional dish usually served during ceremonial events or special occasions was made using 1,200 kilogrammes of glutinous rice and 900 coconuts which cost almost RM10,000.
