LRT extension: SS18 braces for road closure

The back lane between Jalan SS 18/4f and Jalan SS18/4g and a portion of Jalan SS 18/6 in Subang Jaya will be closed for 62 days starting this Wednesday.

The back lane between Jalan SS 18/4f and Jalan SS18/4g and a portion of Jalan SS 18/6 in Subang Jaya will be closed for 62 days starting this Wednesday.

The closure is to facilitate a preliminary test pile (PTP) prior to the construction of station 6 of the LRT extension.

“The works will be carried out from Monday to Saturday, 8am to 5pm,” said the project contractor Trans Resource Corporation engineer Zabry Ahmad Shah.

He said noise and vibration might occur during the early stages but will not last long.

He was speaking at a press conference with Subang Jaya assemblywomen Hannah Yeoh, MPSJ senior engineer Arifuddin Ismail and concerned residents at a football field in SS18 today.

Yeoh asked the contractor to give an early notice to the school and residents within the vicinity; and to take responsibility and compensate should there be damages to the houses caused by the piling.

Zabry agreed to the terms, and said flagmen will be deployed on site 24 hours.

Arifuddin, meanwhile, said residents can lodge a complaint to MPSJ or via his mobile number 019 255 0333 if they spot any misconduct at the site.

The test pile activities will be extended along Jalan Jengka and Kesas Highway by the end of the year, with more road closures expected and notifications to be given later.

On a side note, Yeoh urged Public Works Ministry to accelerate the improvement works on Kesas intersection before the PTP works begin.

“If they do an improvement for sure one land of the roads will be closed. This is to be done quickly before the LRT construction starts,” she said.

PTP is a process to determine the amount of load which can be placed on the area before the actual construction may start.
