Big Apple Donuts & Coffee marked a milestone in its Malaysian operations with the opening of its 100th store at IOI Mall Puchong on Oct 10, nearly two decades after the homegrown brand began operating in 2007.
The new outlet, located at the mall’s South Court, celebrates the brand’s growth through a combination of company-owned and franchised stores. The company also plans to open another 10 outlets across Malaysia in 2027.
To mark the occasion, the brand is offering its Ola Pandan and Dreamy Pandan donuts at RM1 each at all outlets nationwide until Oct 31, while stocks last.

The promotion is limited to in-store purchases, with 100 pieces available per outlet daily. There is no purchase limit per customer, and the offer is not available through delivery applications.
“Big Apple was born in Malaysia 19 years ago, and every one of our 100 stores was built on the support of Malaysian customers, our team and our franchise partners. This milestone belongs to them, and we are deeply grateful,” said managing director Yasuo Mizoguchi.
Homegrown brand marks 19 years
Big Apple opened its first store at The Curve in Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya, in 2007. The company is preparing to celebrate its 20th anniversary in 2027.
The latest promotion features two pandan-flavoured varieties. Ola Pandan comes with a pandan glaze and creamy vanilla swirl, while Dreamy Pandan features a pandan glaze with a vanilla topping and drizzle.
Mizoguchi said the company chose pandan as part of its anniversary-related promotion because of the flavour’s familiarity among Malaysian consumers.
“We wanted to say thank you in a way every Malaysian can enjoy. Pandan is a flavour close to Malaysian hearts, so for the rest of October, Ola Pandan and Dreamy Pandan are RM1 at every outlet,” he said.
Expansion plans include franchise opportunities
The company said it intends to expand its nationwide presence while adapting to changing consumer preferences and competition in the food and beverage sector.
“The F&B scene keeps changing, and customers have more choice than ever. To stay relevant, we keep listening to them. One hundred stores is a milestone, not a finish line,” Mizoguchi said.
He added that the company planned to open 10 additional stores in 2027, with the longer-term ambition of becoming Malaysia’s leading donut brand.
Big Apple Donuts & Coffee also welcomes prospective franchise partners as it pursues further expansion. The company said its products are halal-certified.
