The annual Putrajaya Flower & Garden Festival , Floria 2013 is now on at the Waterfront adjacent to the Alaf Baru Monument in Presinct 2, Putrajaya.
This year’s annual flower show is expected to be the biggest event since it started in 2007 and more than a million visitors are expected over the 9 days from 22nd June to 30th June, 2013.
Whilst the flower theme for 2012 was the perennial Bougainvilla this year’s theme features the tropical treasure of Orchiddaceae family, a diverse and widespread flowering plant commonly known as the Orchids.
To awe visitors young and old, many other events are also on display ranging from showcase gardens to royal gardens, tea party gardens, floral pavilion, petting zoos, orchid competition, garden bazaar, landscaped vertical walls, entertainment by street performers, brass bands and food stalls.
Topping the Floria 2013 is the 1 MalaysiaInternatoinal Tourism Night Floral Parade which features 14 brightly illuminated floats cruising along the 3km stretch of the Putrajaya Lake in nightly splendour and ending each night with a grand fireworks display, while all the floats drop anchor. This psychedelic display of lights and fireworks is aptly named the “Magic of the Night”.
Besides the 2 floats from the Minstry of Tourism, a total of 12 other from the various states of Malaysia are taking part. Noticeably the following 4 states namely Penang, Selangor, Kelantan and Kedah did not sent in any entry and the only foreign participant is from Suzhou, China.
