The Cancerlink Foundation, a non-governmental and non-profit organization based in Petaling Jaya, together with the Soroptimists of SI Kuala Lumpur, SI Shah Alam and Pandu Puteri of Wilayah Persekutuan, jointly organized the Cancerlink Caring Carnival at their premise on April 21, 2012.
The awareness program, which targets the whole family, emphasized the importance of good health with the theme, ‘Be Happy, Stay Healthy’.
The program included a poster exhibition on cancer awareness, a children bottle-painting contest and half-hourly participatory activities on qigong, cane therapy, yoga and laughter yoga.
There was also the flash mob dance by the students from the University College of Technology and Innovation (UCTI) to welcome the arrival of guests. More than 200 guests and participants were present.
Cancerlink Foundation board of trustees chairperson, Joanne V. Fernandez asked the audience at her ‘Be Happy, Stay Healthy’ presentation, ‘How aware are we with the condition of our health?’.
She further emphasized that happiness is a state of mind that transcend out thinking and thought, and the power of happiness comes from within us.
Suzee Leong, 61, a cancer survivor reminded us to count our blessings and that gratitude is a good attitude.
Also present was Dr. Aishah Ong who donated RM5,000 to the foundation.
