3 students and a civil servant nabbed for laptop theft

Two of the college students, both female, were arrested as soon as they completed their final semester examinations, at 12:10pm while the other and the civil servant, at their homes at about 2:30 a.m.

Three college students and a civil servant were nabbed on Sunday suspected of a string of laptop and digital camera thefts.

All four suspects, aged between 20 and 27, were nabbed at two different locations.

Two of the college students, both female, were arrested as soon as they completed their final semester examinations, at 12:10pm while the other and the civil servant, at their homes at about 2:30 a.m.

All four are being remanded till Thursday, 5 May 2011, to facilitate investigations.

Police recovered one digital camera believed to be stolen in the possession of one of the students, while the laptops are believed to have been handed over to a third party.
Arau District Chief of police, Superintendent Mohd Nazri Hussain claims that several other theft cases filed may also be solved following the arrest of the four.

Since October 2010, several reports of stolen laptops and digital cameras have been made by students living in the college residence.
