A woman was killed after fire gutted her studio unit on level seven of Damansara Perdana apartment here today.
Firemen found Elizabeth Wong, 25, lying dead on the floor near a bed.
Wong who was living alone in the apartment suffered burns in the legs. Damansara Fire and Rescue operations officer Sulaiman Shamsuddin said the fire brigade arrived soon after being informed about the fire at 10:27am.
“When we arrived, the unit was filled with smoke as the management had put out the fire to prevent it from spreading.”
Sulaiman said the fire destroyed beds, mattresses, books and bookshelves. Rejecting it was caused by a criminal act; he said the forensic unit was still carrying out investigation on the fire.
The body was sent to Universiti Malaya Medical Centre (UMMC) for a postmortem and identification by family members.
