The government has allocated RM1.5?million from the Dairy Development Trust Fund to assist 66 breeders whose dairy cattle was affected by foot and mouth disease in December last year.

Agriculture and Agro-Based Industry Minister Noh Omar said the assistance would help ease the burden of the breeders, whom were from Perak,?Negeri Sembilan, Selangor, Kedah and Terengganu who suffered losses.

“This assistance is not a compensation but merely compassionate aid to help the breeders tide over their losses and encourage them to pick up the pieces,” he told reporters after handing over aid totaling RM314, 783 to the 66 breeders at the parliament house.

He said the sum was for losses in December last year while further provisions for January and February would be given later.
