Khalid: No hike on assessment rate

Selangor MB Khalid Ibrahim said the assessment rates imposed by13 municipal councils will be kept at the same level and no increase is planned at the moment.

In a written reply to Mohd Shamsudin Lias (BN-Sungai Burong) today at Selangor State Assembly, Khalid (PKR- Ijok) said the presumed hike of assessment rate was caused by an increase of total amounts collected.

“The amounts collected as of September 2009 and September 2010 indicates an increase among all 13 municipal councils,”

Topping the chart is Subang Jaya Municipal Council, which have garnered RM136.88 million this year, compared to RM128.29million last year.

Shah Alam City Council (MBSA) followed with a RM5 million increase from RM129.95 last year to RM134.85 this year.

Khalid added that the assessment rate to a property will only be revised if the property owner performs a modification that involves changes on floor space of a property; or a conversion of land title from agricultural to commercial; or development of an empty land.

“For instance, residential properties that are made into child care centres will receive extra charge,”
