Around 7,600 residents of Pangsapuri Angsana at USJ 1 will soon be entitled to receive 20 cubic meters of free water for each household, said Subang Jaya assemblyperson Hannah Yeoh during an event to present cash vouchers to the residents.

Around 7,600 residents of Pangsapuri Angsana at USJ 1 will soon be entitled to receive 20 cubic meters of free water for each household, said Subang Jaya assemblyperson Hannah Yeoh during an event to present cash vouchers to the residents.

According Yeoh, each household will receive RM 12.00 water bill redemption coupon every month from the Selangor state government.

However, this has to wait until each family’s personal water usage charges can be identified.

Due to bulk meter billing practiced by many property managers of flats, apartment and condominium, the residents had not benefited from the 20 cubic meter free water program undertaken by the Pakatan Rakyat led Selangor state government.

Yeoh is currently working with Bekalan Air Selangor (SYABAS) and the apartment’s joint management committee to convert bulk water meters to individual water meters.

The majority of residents at the Angsana flats are from the low-income group, and the move would prove to be a relief for some of them who can’t afford to pay their monthly utility bills.

Amidah Harun, 32, said that the redemption could save her money as she attempts to raise two asthmatic children in tight purse strings.

Meanwhile, 20 poor families from the flats also received vouchers and cash relief amounting to RM200 each during the event.

Every family was given a RM100 Mydin voucher, followed by cash contributions from Yeoh, MPSJ councilor Roslan Shahir and also the USJ 1 mosque committee.

Residents Mohd Fauzi Yusof, 37, said that the financial aid would help his family prepare for upcoming Raya celebrations without compromising on tight budgets.
