The body of a baby boy, with its umbilical cord still intact, was found at a garbage dump in Bukit Tajol, Banggol Judah yesterday.
Several garbage collectors stumbled on the body when a Machang district council garbage truck unloaded its contents at 1.15pm.
Machang police chief DSP Che Malek Bedut said the body was sent to the Machang Hospital. Meanwhile, garbage collector Rosmi Shafie, 30, said the body was wrapped in a t-shirt and sarong and placed in a box.
“We thought the box contained valuables but were shocked to find the body,” he added.
