Domestic Trade, Cooperatives and Consumerism Minister Ismail Sabri Yaakob said the action was taken following allegations by certain quarters that the foodstuff sold at the KR1M were of low quality.

“The government targets 25 more KR1M to be opened before the year-end, with the Kerayong outlet opened today being the 24th,” he said.

Ismail Sabri denied that the KR1M were adversely affecting the livelihood of other sundry shop operators.

“The existence of the KR1M is not curtailing their business as these sundry shops are allowed to sell 1Malaysia products provided they have separate racks for these products,” he said.
