2,000 people team up to clean Gurney Drive

The total weight of garbage collected was 3.2 tonnes, of which, plastic bags, wood and styrofoam represented the bulk.

Some 2,000 people participated in the Gurney Drive Cleanup project organised by JCI Bayan, recently.

The event, which was initiated by Pulau Tikus assemblyman, Koay Teng Hai, is the fourth clean-up organised since 2008.

More than 50 organisations such as Dell, Equator Academy of Art, KDU college participated, wearing yellow t-shirts.

The event was officiated by the state Local Government and Traffic Management Committee chairman, Chow Kon Yeong.

The total weight of garbage collected was estimated 3,193 kg.
