The Malaysian Trades Union Congress (MTUC) wants to further discuss with the Human Resources Ministry on the amendments to the Employment Act 1955.

Its president Mohd Khalid Atan said discussions were needed to improve and streamline the act, which it felt was still imperfect.

“For MTUC, the door for negotiation is still open. We will discuss should the ministry wants to,” he told reporters during an MTUC picket in Jalan Raja Laut, yesterday.

About 500 members of MTUC, National Union of Bank Employees (NUBE), EPF Board Staff Union and the Railwaymen’s Union of Malaya (RUM) took part in the picket.
