Photoblog: The Green Walk reaches Dataran

KUALA LUMPUR – More than 20,000 people walked with Wong Tack on the final day of the 300km Green Walk;

After 14 days of walking,  at an average of 25 kilometres per day, rain or shine and sleeping wherever the Malaysian public is kind enough to accomodate,  the 300km Green Walk finally reach within metres from the Dataran Merdeka.

By order of the Mayor of Kuala Lumpur, the Dataran Merdeka was closed for all activities as stated in big red signboard all around the Square.

On arrival at the Maju Junction, just about a kilometere away from Dataran Merdeka, the crowd following and waiting for Wong Tack had already swelled to more than 20,000. Following images show some of the Members of Parliament, lawmakers and NGO leaders waiting for Wong’s arrival

After walking 300 kilometres which took 14 days, Wong Tack finally arrive within metres of the Dataran Merdeka

On reaching the police barricade in front of the Dataran, Wong Tack said ” His intention was to reach the Parliament the next day, however he and his group of supporters are totally exhausted and he will wait under a tree outside the Dataran  and hope that Parliamentarians will come to the Dataran to meet the rakyat instead.  Parliament is only a 300 metres walk to the Dataran.”
