The Kota Baharu Land and District Office has defended the acquisition process of land in Section 10, Jalan Gajah Mati, saying it is being done in accordance with the procedures.
Its officer Adnan Hussin said the land acquisition process was in adherence to the National Land Code.
He said that the office had sent a form to the land owners in the area asking them to come to the office on Sept 12 to be told about the land acquisition proposal.
“But they have acted even before attending the meeting,” he told Bernama when asked to comment on the protest staged by villagers yesterday.
He said that at the upcoming meeting they would be given options whether to agree to the acquisition, or accept the proposal in protest, or to object the proposal outright.
