MPE 2027 Summit gains interest from Hong Kong Trade Office

The Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office has expressed interest in the ASEAN+3 Young Entrepreneurs Summit – Foodtech & Trade Expo 2027, organised by the Malaysia Progressive Entrepreneurs Chamber of Commerce (MPE).

MPE national president William Khoo said the office indicated that it would discuss the event internally with its headquarters to explore possible forms of support.

“Any potential support remains subject to their internal discussions and further communication.

“We sincerely appreciate the warm welcome extended to our delegation. This visit allowed both parties to gain a better understanding of each other’s work and provided a good beginning for maintaining communication,” he said in a statement on Monday (Sept 7).

Khoo led an MPE delegation on a courtesy visit to the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office on Sept 7, accompanied by honorary adviser Datuk Dr Lim Beng Suat and national vice-president Lim Lip Sing.

Delegation exchanges views on economy and business environment

The delegation also exchanged views with the office on Malaysia’s economy, Penang’s economic development and the business environment.

During the meeting, MPE presented details of the ASEAN+3 Young Entrepreneurs Summit – Foodtech & Trade Expo 2027.

MPE said the visit focused on introductions, a general exchange of views and a brief presentation of the event.

The proposed summit and expo is intended to bring together young entrepreneurs and business stakeholders from ASEAN and its Plus Three partners, with a focus on food technology and trade.

However, MPE said no formal support arrangement has been confirmed at this stage, with any potential involvement by the Hong Kong Economic and Trade Office subject to further internal discussions and communication.
