Police have crippled a drug trafficking syndicate believed to be the biggest in Terengganu following the seizure of drugs worth RM173,250 and arrest of a suspected key member.

State Narcotics Crime Investigation Department chief Supt Roslan Abd Wahid
said today the 26-year-old man was arrested at about 5.22pm in his car at a
parking lot here last Tuesday.

“When he realised the presence of police the suspect tried to escape by
running them down, but they broke the car screen and stopped him. Heroin
worth about RM5,000 was found inside the car,” he told reporters here.

He said police raided the suspect’s house and found 6,930 psychotropic
pills worth RM173,250 in one of the rooms and RM30,670. Police also confiscated
a motorcycle.

Roslan said the syndicate had been targeting Kuala Terengganu and Marang for
the past one year.
He said police have identified other members of the syndicate and are
hunting them down.

The suspect will be remanded until Sept 12 while being investigated under
Section 39 (B) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 which carries a mandatory death
