The Kembara Merdeka Jalur Gemilang convoy will kick off its Pahang expedition tomorrow to promote the Independence spirit among Malaysians.

Acting Pahang Information Department director Danuri Hamim said the convoy, which will involve more than 10 vehicles, will depart from Kampung Paya Luas Mosque in Temerloh, before heading to 11 other districts in the state.

“Among the activities lined up for the convoy participants are breaking of fast, performing Terawih prayer and having ‘sahur’ (pre-dawn meal) with the local people,” he said today.

He said 5,500 Jalur Gamilang flags would also be distributed to the local people during the programme.

Prime Minister Najib Razak is scheduled to receive the convoy when it reaches its final destination at Kampung Tanjung Batu Mosque in Nenasi, Pekan on Aug 20, he said.

Meanwhile, Danuri said members of the public, as well as public and private agencies, were invited to participate in the “Keceriaan Merdeka” Competition and Merdeka Photo Contest, which offer cash prize of RM90,500 and RM9,000
respectively.

He said further information and entry form were available at all district information offices in Pahang or the Information Communication and Culture Ministry’s website.
