Sultan Muhammad V to be made UMK chancellor
The Sultan of Kelantan, Sultan Muhammad V, will be made the Chancellor of Universiti Malaysia Kelantan (UMK) on Sept 19.
UMK vice-chancellor Prof Zainai Mohamed said the appointment would take place at the inaugural convocation of the university on that day at its main campus in Kampung Tangok, Bachok.
The appointment of the sultan had received the consent of Yang di-Pertuan Agong Tuanku Mizan Zainal Abidin, he told reporters. The current chancellor, Sultan Ismail Petra, is ill.
Dr Zainai also said that 266 graduands of three faculties – Entrepreneurship and Business; Agro Industry and Natural Resources; and Creative Technology and Heritage – would receive their degrees at the convocation.
The main campus of UMK, which began operations four years ago, would be fully operational in September.
