The Tawau Marine Operations Force (PGM) arrested 18 foreigners, including three women, for illegally entering the country last night.

Acting District Marine Operations Force Commanding Officer ASP Mohamad Ismail said the illegal immigrants, aged between 13 and 47, were detained upon their attempt to enter the country using a boat through Sungai Serudung at 8pm.

Also arrested in the operation conducted following four days of investigation was a skipper and crew member, both 17.

“After inspecting all passengers on the boat we found none of them had valid travel documents,” he told Bernama.

Bernama was told that the boat had departed after sunset from Nunukan, Indonesia to Kalabakan and the skipper was paid by certain quarters RM100 per passenger. However, the boat passengers said they were charged RM250 by an individual in Nunukan who claimed to be the manager
