Forest City gains momentum with high-profile visit

On April 18, Malaysia’s Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and his delegation visited Forest City, accompanied by key government officials.

The delegation includes the Defense minister Mohamed Khaled bin Haji Nordin, International Trade and Industry minister Tengku Zafrul Aziz, Economy minister Mohd Rafizi bin Ramli, and Johor’s Chief Minister Onn Hafiz.

Forest City to host ASEAN Tourism Forum 2025

The Forest City project in Johor, Malaysia, has recently attracted significant attention as it prepares to host the ASEAN Tourism Forum from January 19th to 25th in 2025.

This announcement was confirmed by the Tourism, Arts, and Culture minister, Dato’ Sri Tiong King Sing, and his team, following discussions with the Johor state government.

Transport minister Loke Siew Fook’s comments during an interview have sparked public interest. He stressed the need for a reevaluation of the route if the new Kuala Lumpur-Singapore high-speed rail project were to resume.

He highlighted the importance of integrating the Forest City Special Financial Zone and the Johor-Singapore Economic Zone into the planning process for sustainable development and synergy with strategic regional growth areas.

Strengthening investment and development

Meanwhile, Onn Hafiz, disclosed plans to closely link the Johor-Singapore Economic Zone (JSSEZ) with the Forest City Special Financial Zone (FCSFZ).

This move is anticipated to bring more investment opportunities, job creation, and development projects to Johor, benefiting residents and businesses alike.

Additionally, the establishment of the Iskandar Malaysia Facilitation Centre, as suggested by the Tengku Zafrul, aims to streamline business activities in Forest City and attract further investments to Johor.

These initiatives underscore the commitment of both the Malaysian federal government and the Johor state government to the development of the Forest City project.

Their collaborative efforts not only inspire confidence in foreign investors regarding the viability of Forest City as a strategic business hub but also position Johor as a focal point for international investments.
