Excavator driver Mad Rosli Ahmad, 36, from Kampung Danglau Sik, found the bomb when clearing the area for farming purposes at about 4.45pm.

“At first I did not pay much attention to an object which was among the debris but upon close inspection, found it to be an old bomb. I lifted the bomb and placed it at a safe spot before lodging a police report,” he told reporters today.

The bomb, with a 24-inch diameter and measuring two feet in length had an initial ‘1G’ on it, he said.

A bomb squad from the Kedah police headquarters later exploded the bomb at about 10.45am today.

Sik police chief DSP Zaidong Mustafa urged members of the public to report any objects that resembles a bomb.

“If anyone finds a bomb or an object that looks like a bomb, immediately inform the police and let the police handle the situation because such bombs may still be active,” said Zaidong.
