Rural and Regional Development Minister Mohd Shafie Apdal said the Cabinet has agreed to establish rural development councils.
He said members of parliament in their respective areas would chair the rural development councils.
“The councils will not only monitor projects but also coordinate them. It will ensure that MPs are aware of projects in their areas.
“This is to ensure that all members of parliament know what projects are being implemented,” he said at the ministry’s meeting and briefing for Barisan Nasional Backbenchers Club members.
