Malls bring early Christmas cheer to underprivileged kids

Christmas is just around the corner and the Curve and eCurve shopping malls in Mutiara Damansara, Petaling Jaya spread the Christmas cheer to some 30 underprivileged children and their caretakers from two homes, treating them to an unforgettable day out.

At the Curve, the excited children from Rainbow Home in Cheras, Selangor arrived at the Curve’s centre court, greeted by Santa Claus and treated to candy canes. They enjoyed a lively musical dance performance and tapped their feet to the rhythm of Christmas jingles.

In conjunction with the Curve’s The Sweetest Christmas Ever campaign, the centre court has been transformed into a candy haven with a 10-foot high colourful candy house with decorations of lollipop and candy cane designs with strings of twinkling fairy lights and sparkling Christmas trees.

The Curve’s senior general manager Jazmi Kamarudin said, “Christmas is a time for joy and merriment but most importantly it is a time of giving and sharing. We are delighted to play host to the kids from Rainbow Home and give them a unique candy-coated Christmas this year. Sweets have always been associated with happiness and good feelings and we hope that the event today has given our guests exactly that.”

Over at eCurve mall, a stone’s throw away, excited children from SiddharthanCare Centre in Petaling Jaya arrived at the malls’ centre atrium and enjoyed a memorable show of a magician with his incredible routine, an amazing feat of the snake lady and other thrilling acts that were in store for them.

The centre atrium Christmas decorations has the look of a circus in the streets of Paris complete with iconic French landmarks such as the Eiffel Tower and Arc de Triomphe and a red circus stage.

Gina Long Ahmad, leasing and A&P assistant general manager of Boustead Curve Sdn Bhd (the Curve & eCurve) said, “We find that there is no greater fulfilment than bringing joy and laughter to those in need. By bringing in the children from Siddharthan Care Centre to celebrate a unique, French-themed Christmas with us this year, we hope that the kids experienced a wonderful Christmas and enjoyed their outing here with us today.”

The celebration at the Curve’s came to an end with a tea-party at Paddington House of Pancakes, while the young ones at eCurve were treated to seafood dinner at The Manhattan FishMarket. Both eateries are located in the malls.

The children went home smiling happily as each received a goody bag of Christmas gifts from their host.
