For the first time, International Automodified (IAM), a touring automotive lifestyle community joined the Malaysia Autoshow 2019 to showcase modified and customised cars.
Custom car fanatics had the opportunity to feast their eyes on various stunning custom-modified models.
Organised by Malaysia Automotive, Robotics and IoT Institute (MARii), the 4-day Malaysia Autoshow 2019 from 11th to 14th April was officially launched by prime minister Tun. Dr. Mahathir Mohamad at Malaysia Agro Exposition Park Serdang (MAEPS) in Seri Kembangan, Selangor.
The Malaysia Autoshow 2019, themed “Mobility for All”, showcased the latest vehicles on the market, highlighting the advances in technology, safety and comfort of vehicles as well as exhibited the latest industry trends as the world moved towards connected mobility.
More than 32 original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and 170 exhibitors from seven countries took part in the exhibition this year.
There were more than 100 car models including the newest Energy Efficient Vehicles (EEV). Visitors were also offered special packages and deals as well as special finance packages through its bank partner at the show.
Tun Dr. Mahathir unveiled the Perodua Bezza Limited Edition priced at RM44,900 on-the-road before insurance. Only 50 units were available for booking at the Autoshow and buyers snapped up all the units on the third day of the event.
Tun Dr. Mahathir also unveiled the 2019 versions of Proton Iriz and Persona.
Besides cars, the Malaysia Autoshow 2019 also showcased motorcycles.
Honda BigWings launched their much anticipated CB superbikes. The all-new Honda CBR650R and CB650R are priced at RM45,499 and RM43,499 respectively.
The Autoshow leveraged on MAEPS’s vast outdoor areas and diverse terrains to host various exciting outdoor activities, such as a unique 3km long test drive track, an SUV test drive hill and a truck safety awareness program, also MARii’s own Car Care Week program – a free 21-point vehicle inspection.
Visitors had the opportunity to take a step into an immersive journey throughout the entire automotive ecosystem. The journey started with the upstream stages of vehicle manufacturing processes from automotive styling, design and engineering all the way to the process design.
The MARii Mobility Narrative showcased the various technologies and practices within the manufacturing, aftersales and mobility sectors with a vision of Malaysia’s mobility ecosystem in the future.
Also for the first time ever, the Malaysia Autoshow hosted various activities related to Robotics through the Robot Combat Competition and Maker’s Corner, both organised by Kinabalu Coders, a community-driven technology team based in Sabah.
The Robot Combat Competition saw participants competed in various robotics segments while visitors at the Maker’s Corner tried their hands at building their own robots and other smart applications with coaches and trainers provided hands-on guidance.
