KUALA LUMPUR – Some has called him a hypocrite for correcting his child but failing to correct his mistakes

Aliff Syukri, millionaire founder of local cosmetics company D’Herbs, recently took to his Instagram account to brag about beating his child with a cane. He posted a video clip of his adopted daughter in bed, covering her face and crying as he applied ointment to her back.

He explained that he had beaten her for taking off her hijab in the company of other men and he had to teach her a lesson about a woman’s dignity. He concludes by asking her to tutup aurat (cover your aurat).

Aurat refers to genitalia and other parts of the body to be clothed as required by Islam. Some conservatives consider hair to be aurat, as it could be a source of “temptation.”

Hundreds of netizens flooded his page condemning his behavior. A user highlighted that by posting it on social media it could have adverse effect on the child’s psychological growth.

Some users has called his actions were nothing short of child abuse.

Some has called him a hypocrite for correcting his child but failing to correct his mistakes. This is in reference to a recent music video Aliff was seen dancing with two sexily dressed women artist to promote his cosmetic business.

A netizen wrote; “You cane your child when she removes her hijab while you do an obscene video. Correct yourself first as children learn their habits from parents.”

To which a netizen replied ” Why don’t you cane yourself for the obscene video, then you will know the pain”

A non-governmental organisation called Protect and Save The Children (P.S. The Children), a member of the Child Rights Coalition Malaysia (CRCM), has lodged a police report yesterday against Aliff Syukri for caning his nine-year-old daughter at the Petaling Jaya district police headquarters.

It has called for the police and the Welfare Department to investigate and take appropriate action to charge Aliff for his violations of existing laws.
