Maggi brings Ramadan cheer to charitable home

KUALA LUMPUR – Maggi chefs together with caretakers from the home prepared Maggi bubur lambuk for buka puasa with the residents

Maggi cooked up a pot of tasty and nutritious Maggi bubur lambuk and shared its signature rice porridge dish with residents of Rumah Titian Kaseh, Kuala Lumpur this Ramadan.

Maggi, a recognised global brand that has become a household name in Malaysia, visited a charitable home in Kuala Lumpur recently to spread the Ramadan cheer.

Employees from Maggi and Nestle Malaysia volunteered their time to visit Rumah Titian Kaseh (RTK), a mixed charitable home in Kuala Lumpur for over 130 children, disabled persons and single mothers.

Joining them were Nestle Malaysia chief executive officer Juan Aranols, Maggi business executive officer Geetha Balakrishna and Nestle category nutrition manager Nurul Iliani Ahmad.

The visitors held a gotong royong session to spruce up the home by brightening up the walls with a fresh coat of paint in time for the Aidilfitri celebrations.

Reflecting Maggi’s ‘Cook the Difference’ theme, the traditional savoury rice porridge commonly distributed during Ramadan is cooked with a mixture of fresh ingredients and spices to create a delicious and healthy meal for buka puasa.

“It means a lot to us to celebrate Ramadan with the residents of Rumah Titian Kaseh. We are excited this Maggi Ramadan event is our best opportunity to embrace the spirit of giving, bring some cheer to the home and also spend time with the residents,” said Juan Aranols.

Rumah Titian Kaseh founder Hajah Sharifah Binti Haji Adlan expressed her gratitude and appreciation to Maggi and Nestle Malaysia to the help and charitable deeds extended to the home and the residents.

“We are thrilled to have the team from Maggi and Nestle joined us for this activity and spent time with the children and other residents. This was a wonderful occasion to bring people together during the fasting month and we will definitely cherish this special event,” she said.

Maggi business executive officer Geetha Balakrishna said the cooking and distributing bowls of Maggi bubur lambuk reinforced Maggi’s ‘Cook the Difference’ vision to make a positive difference through wholesome home-made cooking. “This has become an annual Ramadan event for us and we are honoured to share the joy with Rumah Titian Kaseh this year,” she said.

To impart good nutrition habits, Nurul Iliani Ahmad conducted an interactive nutrition session for the children. During the session, the kids were educated on food groups and the food pyramid through fun games.

During the visit Nestle also took the opportunity to conduct a session educating the children on the importance of recycling and protecting the environment. Activities included teaching the children to make creative decorations using recycled materials such as cardboard boxes and plastic bottles.

Maggi will also be partnering with RTK to sell arts and crafts made from recycled items by the home. These items will be sold for charity and the funds provided to RTK.
