Increased rainfall due to the ongoing monsoon season which is expected to last until November has seen a rising number of areas in Malaysia being affected by flash floods.

Users of Jalan Genting Kelang in Kuala Lumpur were also affected by a massive traffic jam which saw several cars trapped by rising waters caused by flash floods last Saturday following a heavy downpour.

A twitter user known as @datininaz posted online that while she, her husband and younger brother who were on the way to Kuala Lumpur, decided to u turn back to their home in Wangsa Maju due to the heavy rain. While passing through the Maybank in front of Jalan Genting Kelang the high level of rainwater on the road caused a bus unable to move causing the traffic to come to standstill.

Inaz family decided to park near the shop lots and wait until the rain subdues. After parking the car they noticed their car started to emit smoke and was unable to start. They also realized there were about 4 other cars unable to start after getting stuck in the flood.

Determined to find a speedy solution to the rising water levels, both her husband and brother decided to brave through the road filled with rainwater and open one of the manholes hoping to clear the drainage. After noticing the rainwater moving faster down the drainage they opened up a few more manholes for about 100 meters apart.

They stood nearby to warn motorists about the opened manholes and later closed them up after water levels went down.

Motorists who later passed by the clear road wind down their windows to thank them for their selfless act. Their actions had also made Inaz post go viral online with more than 24000 retweets and 19000 likes with twitter users caming in droves to thank them for their kind heart. Deputy Prime Minister Dr Wan Azizah also retweeted the post and thanked the family for their actions.
