BSN helps 2000 students from needy families ease back-to-school

SEREMBAN – Students received RM120 worth of school necessities and also RM50 deposited in their account.

A total of 100 Year 2 to 5 schoolchildren from needy families in the Seremban, Kuala Pilah, Port Dickson, Jempol and Jelebu districts, received RM120 worth of school necessities from Bank Simpanan Nasional (BSN) via the ‘Jom To School With BSN’ programme today.

BSN senior vice president/digital banking head, Muhamad Adlan Hussan, said the programme being held for a second time is part of the organisation’s corporate social responsibility, with the items comprising school uniform, socks and shoes, among others.

“We know that obtaining school necessities can be a burden for some families, especially the needy. It’s for this reason that BSN has given the aid.

“Last year, we were able to help 1,041 needy students from across the country. This year, we’ve increased the number to 2,000 in order for more students to face the new school year well,” he told Bernama.

BSN also deposited RM50 in each recipient’s account.

Muhammad Nur Waie, 10, from Sekolah Kebangsaan Taman Tuanku Jaafar, said: “My parents earn very little and at the same time, I have four siblings. So this aid eases the pressure on them. I’m very grateful to be chosen to receive it.”
