Klang’s pioneer and flagship tertiary healthcare provider, Sri Kota Specialist Medical Centre, marked another achievement when it received the Healthcare Asia Awards 2020

Klang’s pioneer and flagship tertiary healthcare provider, Sri Kota Specialist Medical Centre, marked another achievement when it received the Healthcare Asia Awards 2020 (Facilities Improvement Initiative of the Year) for the second consecutive year.

Since its inception in 1999, Sri Kota has continuously upgraded its facilities and services in its drive to provide patients and visitors with quality healthcare experience.

The hospital bagged the award for Facilities Improvement Initiative of the Year — Malaysia with its winning entry, Better Facilities, Better Care. The entry features Sri Kota’s upgrades to the Cancer Centre and the Surgical Ward.

Sri Kota’s Cancer Centre upgrading works began in May 2019 and commenced operations in November 2019 as part of its efforts to provide better quality care for cancer patients through its comprehensive cancer treatment services, which include the best techniques and cutting edge technologies.

The newly improved Cancer Centre, featuring an expanded area of 850sqm from its previous 450sqm, offers the Klang region’s FIRST and ONLY one-stop treatment and experienced medical support. We strongly believe that the upgraded Cancer Centre will serve the needs of the Klang community.

The upgrade has equipped the centre with the latest state-of-the-art equipment such as a new TomoTheraphy machine, which offers a full spectrum of radiation therapies such as Image-Guided Intensity Modulated Radiation Therapy (IG-IMRT), Stereotactic Radiosurgery (SRS), and Stereotactic Body Radiation Therapy (SBRT).

Sri Kota’s Cancer Centre upgrade has also seen the installation of a high- end CT system called Aquilion PRIME. The safety of patients is enhanced with increased accuracy and lower levels of radiation, which results in better treatment and rapid recovery.

Additionally, Sri Kota also offers individualised cancer treatments such as Chemotherapy, Hormonal Therapy, Targeted Therapy, Immunotherapy, and Surgery services to better serve the Klang community and patients for years to come.

Another key facility upgrade of the hospital in 2019 was the total refurbishment of its Surgical Ward on the 6th floor, inclusive of the VIP suite, Double Deluxe and the four-bedded rooms. The upgraded ward boasts a contemporary look with brand new furniture and finishing across the entire floor. This comprehensive revamp saw the hospital hitting a new milestone, in terms of the care delivered and in patients’ satisfaction.
