Mechanic modifies car with cool disabled friendly seat

Maman designed a swivel seat which slowly moves in and out of a vehicle making it more convenient for disabled passengers.

A mechanic in Malaysia has modified a car to make it more accessible for people with disabilities or special needs.

Maman, who runs Syah Autoparts Kempas Utama in Johor Bahru, designed a swivel seat which slowly moves in and out of a vehicle making it more convenient for disabled passengers.

A video that was uploaded on his workshop Facebook page shows the automated swivel car seat fitted inside a Perodua Myvi.

Maman is seen trying out the swivel seat carrying him in and out of the Perodua Myvi by just pressing a few buttons in the one-minute long video.

He said the seat was sold to a customer who needed this technology to make it easier for their disabled family member to get in and out of the vehicle.

The talented mechanic who has over seven years of experience working in his garage said: “We are a company that provides half-cut parts from Japan. Thus, the seat system you see came ready in a box.”

“We only made the wiring and installed the seat into the old model Myvi.”

The innovation which includes the seat and its installation in a package is available at RM 1,400 ($334).

At the time of writing, the post has gone viral with 11000 shares on Facebook, with hundreds of netizens flooding the comment section to express their amazement and interest over the installation.

Maman’s workshop is located at:
3, Jalan Kempas Utama 3/5, Taman Kempas Utama, 81200 Johor Bahru, Johor.
