Dog spends two weeks walking over 100 kilometers to trace owners

A young Golden Retriever went on an arduous journey of over 100 kilometers (62 miles) to trace back her owners after they left their pet at a friend’s house temporarily.

The one year old faithful family dog which travelled alone for 14 days, looked thin and had bleeding paws when she was found.

A group of workers recued the dog after finding her limping outside an office building. The dog named Ping An, which means ‘safe and sound’, was later sent back home when they managed to track down her owners.

Jianghai Evening News reported that the family from Qidong city in eastern China had to send Ping An to a friend’s house due to renovation works at their home.

In June, Ping An was dropped off by her family at their friend’s house in Nantong which is about 2 hours drive away from where they live.

Four months later the family was heartbroken to find out that their pet had gone missing after being informed that Ping An had ran away from their friend’s house.

Little did they know that Ping An had left to travel over 100 km (62 miles) to look for her family on a an epic 14 days journey.

The workers who later found her lying on the road with her head down in Qidong City, said Ping An seemed quite depressed after failing to locate her owners.

They temporarily sheltered Ping An and successfully tracked down her owners within a day after sharing in popular Chinese messenger app, WeChat.

The family which recognised their pet in the pictures shared in the social post then rushed to pick her up from the site.

The family finally reunited with their pet after four months can be seen stroking and hugging her in a heartwarming video.

Touched by her loyalty, the family was heard saying ‘Ping An, you’ve worked hard. You just stay home from now on. [We] would never send you away.’

According to her owners, Ping An had been taken to a vet and is currently recovering from her injuries.
