Subang Jaya Medical Centre (SJMC) is now a Covid-19 vaccination centre for private healthcare frontliners under the first phase of the National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme (NIP).
In a statement today, the private hospital, under the Ramsay Sime Darby Health Care Group, said it joined other selected private hospitals as a vaccination centre in the Petaling Jaya district as the country ramps up the national vaccination programme.
Trish Hogan, the CEO of SJMC said, “We have a dedicated team of well-trained vaccine ators who are ready and prepared to vaccinate healthcare workers in Selangor district starting from March 11 2021.
She said it is imperative that the public-private collaboration is fully utilised to ensure the country’s vaccination programme is making swift progress.
“At SJMC, we are committed to supporting the government to achieve an 80% herd immunity in Malaysia which will have far-reaching and positive impact for us all,” she added.
Malaysia started rolling out its National Covid-19 Immunisation Programme in stages starting Feb 26. The Health Ministry has identified 605 locations in the country to be used as vaccination centres. The first phase, targeting front-liners, runs until April.
Science, technology and innovation minister Khairy Jamaluddin who is also the coordinating minister for the NIP, said the government will include more private hospitals for phases two and three to be used as Covid-19 vaccination centres.
Malaysia hopes to achieve herd immunity of 80% of its 32 million population by February 2022.
