Work to revamp the ticketing system at all 56 KTM Komuter stations in the Klang Valley and Negeri Sembilan will proceed amid ongoing investigation by the Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC), said Transport Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha.
“These are two different matters as the investigation is on the process (awarding the contract),” he said when asked whether the company would be instructed to stop its work until the investigation is completed.
Speaking to reporters after visiting the Malaysia Aviation Academy here, Kong reiterated that the ministry would extend full cooperation to the MACC in its probe into Keretapi Tanah Melayu Bhd (KTMB) allegedly awarding a RM85 million contract to an “underqualified” company.
The contract is for the project to revamp the ticketing system at all 56 KTM Komuter stations in the Klang Valley and Negeri Sembilan.
MACC officers were reported to have visited the KTMB office in Kuala Lumpur twice and took away confidential files and documents pertaining to the contract
