Keretapi Tanah Melayu Berhad (KTMB) will be making available 700 additional seats on each of its routes from Sept 3 to 9 in view of the Aidilfitri “balik kampung” rush.
Its president, Dr Aminuddin Adnan said 13 additional coaches would be enlisted per route to provide the extra seats.
“On average we will be ferrying in excess of 9,000 passengers a day this Aidilfitri season,” he told reporters after KTMB’s breaking-of-fast function for orphans from the Sentuhan Budi orphanage here Monday.
He added that KTMB would also do its level best to cater for the last minute rush back to kampungs before Aidilfitri, which falls on Sept 10.
