The 14 Mrs Grand Malaysia 2022 pageant finalists have entered the final rounds of preparations for the grand finals.
The women are currently attending various workshops facilitated by experts from industries such as grooming, makeup and catwalk.
They have also made visits to charity home and pageant sponsors as part of activities planned during the pageant weeks in the run up to the final.
The contestants recently took part in a team building event at Escape Petaling Jaya that has helped them boost their self-esteem and confidence level.
MF Academy founder Mala Fo-ever, who is the coach and mentor for Mrs Grand Malaysia 2022 praised all the contestants for their dedication and commitment to the program.
“From day one the contestants have been very supportive, friendly and also caring as sisterhood. Of course, as a coach and mentor, I need to see all that in them and I keep motivating them and encouraging them whenever they feel down or lacking of confidence.” Mala said
She also added that the contestants are excited for the finals and are ready to present themselves on stage with confidence and poise.
59-year-old Shah Alam grandmother Haniza Mohd Haniff will be the oldest contestant in the Mrs Grand Malaysia 2022 pageant.
The mother of three adult children and a grandmother to four grandchildren is excited that she has made it into the finals of the Mrs Grand Malaysia 2022 pageant.
“I’ve always wanted to participate in a beauty pageant during my younger days. Unfortunately, I had to carry out my responsibility as a housewife and mother to my three children. Now that I’ve more time to myself since the children are all married, I decided to participate in the Mrs Grand Malaysia pageant,” Haniza said.
Haniza, a company director, was scouted and contacted through her Facebook. She is looking forward to gain much by participating in the pageant.
“As everyone knows that all pageants are a stepping stone to one’s future career in an entertainment world. As for me, by participating the pageant, I hope to learn more about myself, gain new experience, boost self-confidence, and improve on social skills and networking.
“Catwalk is a totally new experience for me. For the first few lessons it was a bit tiring as you have to walk in a 5” heels for hours of training. After that it became less tiring due to a lot of practices. Mala who is our mentor and catwalk coach is extremely diligent in preparing us for the finals.”
Haniza is often mistaken for being younger than her age. Her youthful appearance and healthy glow are due to her healthy living.
“I believe in a healthy lifestyle. I play sports such as golf, swimming and table tennis. They make me feel healthier and stronger. Drink plenty of water, eat at the right time and have a consistent good night sleep of 7 to 8 hours. Lastly, be happy, think positive and keep motivated.”
Finalist Kiranjit Kaur, 41, and a mother of two children aged 12 and nine, said she’s gearing up mentally and physically for the competition.
“The preparations are more on getting mentally and physically active. Mentally preparing to answer prejudging questions and physically for catwalk and appearance.”
“The catwalk training was given by our coach Mala. She’s a very diligent, patience and friends friendly. She makes sure that we can walk like professional models now. This helped me boost my confidence.”
When asked what is her greatest strength to win the competition, Kiranjit feels it takes hard work to win it.
“I have been working really hard on my catwalk, appearance and especially using this platform to create awareness by addressing many issues that are being faced by humans.
“However, at the end I believe it’s not about losing or winning the crown. It’s all about what did you do for the society while running for this pageant and it has always been my dream and aim to address my advocacy.”
Kiranjit, a business marketing (Hons) graduate from University of Northumbria, UK in 2003, is currently pursuing a Master of Arts (MA) in Counselling Psychology at Open University Malaysia. She has set herself a goal after she graduated from Open University.
“My main aim after my graduation is to set up my own NGO. I know this is a big dream and it’s not easy but I have started working on it now itself. I have been attending listening sessions for those who need someone to talk to. As I’m not a certified counsellor yet, so the best I could do is listen to their problems and concerns. We humans sometimes just need a listening ear.
“I have been visiting some charity homes and I realized some of the residents of the home are lonely. All they need is someone to listen to them. I believe you don’t need to support them monetarily if you can’t afford but yes you can always provide them with emotion support because that is what they really need.”
The Mrs Grand Malaysia 2022 pageant which is organized by Sun Production is scheduled to be held at Geno Hotel, Subang Jaya this March 12.
