The fun continues at klpac with a trio of offerings on the same weekend – Music Play Date, Kabut in the Park and Backstage Bites – in a bid to woo families and art lovers back.
Families looking for the perfect weekend outing, look no further. On the 16 and 17 July from 11.30 am to 12.30 pm, klpac invites you to a Music Play Date! Ditch formal wear for
sun hats, bring along a picnic blanket and kick off your shoes to enjoy some great music at the klpac Symphonic Band’s first outdoor concert.
Against the idyllic backdrop of Sentul Park lake, 34 musicians will be taking turns in groupings such as duets and quintets to entertain you.
Expect many well-loved and familiar tunes such as Beauty and the Beast, The Lord of the Rings and The Merry Widow Selection. They’ll also throw in a Latin medley and a French number Frère Jacques too. The same programme will be performed on both days.
This casual, family-friendly concert is a great chance to see the musicians and instruments up close. And boy, do they have some surprises! Audiences will get to join in the fun with some interactive music activities too. Admission is free and no tickets or registration is required but donations are welcomed.
Music aside, the car boot yard sale Kabut in the Park will make a return on 16 July from 9 am to 2 pm, making it twice the fun that Saturday.
This is the perfect excuse to indulge in some shopping, soak up some sunshine and enjoy klpac’s lush grounds and greenery. Like before, it will feature some 40 vendors selling kids’ items, plants, electronic and household gadgets, books and decorative
items.
A bargain hunter’s heaven with tons of great buys and deals with free bins too, it is also a chance to do Mother Earth a favour and give pre-loved items a second chance. The good news is Kapihappys pop-up café is returning with its out-of-this-world Nitro brew coffee.
Those looking for a unique experience can sign up for Backstage Bites – Mandarin Edition on 17 July from 9.15 am, supported by Yayasan Sime Darby.
Starting at 9.15 am with a guided tour of Malaysia’s only fully-integrated arts centre in Mandarin, find out why this 120-year-old building is an important historical landmark and what makes it an award-winning architectural icon. Explore areas off-limits to the public such as the catwalk and step onto the very stage used by world-class performers.
After the tour, participants can then join a stage lighting design experience conducted by lighting designer Amelia Tan. She will show you how stage lighting works, what equipment is used and how she uses “Light and Shadow” to tell stories, and create a certain atmosphere and sense of time in the play “Philadelphia, Here I Come!”. Thereafter, tuck into a sumptuous brunch.
Don’t miss out on this fun-filled weekend at klpac where you can enjoy the lush grounds or explore the inner workings of the arts centre.
