A Kia Spectra car was found overturned in a 100-metre deep ravine near kilometre 35.4 Genting Sempah, near here this afternoon.
In the incident at 3pm, the car was found without the driver by a tow-truck driver who was towing another car which was involved in an accident.
Wong Kam Way, 31, said he had gone down to the car which had overturned on a muddy ground before contacting the police.
“As I was towing a Proton Satria Neo car which was involved in an accident here, I noticed that a car had overturned in a ravine,” he told reporters at the scene, near here tonight.
Meanwhile, Civil Defence Department Operations Officer Nik Syahrul Kamal Johari said the department received a call at about 4pm about the accident and his men were still trying to locate the driver of the car.
“We will try to pull up the car using a crane tonight. It is learnt that the car key was in the ‘off’ position and that the car was believed to have skidded before falling off Jalan Bentong Lama, Batu 18, two days ago,” he said.
He said efforts to locate the driver were still going on involving about 60 rescue personnel from the Civil Defence Department, Selayang Fire and Rescue Station and the police.
Gombak OCPD ACP Abdul Rahim Abdullah, when contacted, confirmed the incident and that the operation to find the victim, including using tracker dogs, was continuing.
