The Women, Family and Community Development Ministry will be auditing five more KTM commuter stations along the Sentul-Batu Caves route to ensure they meet the required standards to accommodate disabled persons.
In a statement here today, the ministry said the same audit had been done on the Bandar Tasik Selatan and Sungai Buloh KTM commuter stations together with a non-governmental organisation in September.
This step was an initiative agreed on at a meeting of the National Council for Disabled Persons which was chaired by Women, Family and Community Development Minister Datuk Seri Shahrizat Abdul Jalil here today, the statement said.
Besides this, the statement added that similar initiatives had been taken at 12 other KTM commuter stations namely Kuala Lumpur Sentral, Mid Valley, Kepong Sentral, Bank Negara, Subang Jaya, Seremban, Kajang, Rawang, Sungai Buloh, Bandar Tasik Selatan, Serdang and Shah Alam.
They included the provision of lifts, ramps, special toilets, reserved parking and tactile-marbled flooring.
The statement also said RapidKL would make available 100 disabled-friendly buses by the end of this year and 400 more throughout next year.
