Hyatt Centric Kota Kinabalu will be the Hyatt Centric brand’s first hotel in Southeast Asia, set to open its doors next month.

The hotel will offer unique experiences to guests, World of Hyatt members and customers.

It offers intrepid explorers the ideal launchpad into Sabah, its abundant natural beauty and indigenous cultures, with its prime location in the city’s downtown area.

Situated in the heart of the city, the hotel will offer convenient access to the commercial district, shopping malls, restaurants and other local attractions.

The Jesselton Point pier is also within walking distance, allowing guests to visit nearby islands easily. The Kota Kinabalu International Airport is slightly more than ten kilometres away.

“We are grateful for the collaboration from Hap Seng, one of the most esteemed companies in Malaysia,” said David Udell, group president, Asia-Pacific, Hyatt Hotels Corporation, during the signing ceremony.

“With its prime location in Malaysia’s gateway city to Sabah and Borneo, Hyatt Centric Kota Kinabalu will cater to adventurous guests looking to discover the area’s culture, cuisine and surrounding national parks.”

Slated to open in October 2022, the hotel will have a rooftop swimming pool, restaurant and bar with views of the South China Sea.

The natural forms of a tree inspire the hotel’s contemporary design by Kengo Kuma.

Hyatt Hotels Corporation announced plans for the continued growth of its brand portfolio in the Asia Pacific.

Hyatt’s luxury and lifestyle hotels and resorts will open in late 2022 and 2023, ideally timed to coincide with the region’s emerging rebound in leisure travel.

The new initiative includes the strategic entry of several brands into new markets, such as the arrival of The Unbound Collection by Hyatt brand in Japan, the Andaz brand in Thailand, and the Hyatt Centric brand in Southeast Asia with a new hotel in Malaysia.
