SEGi University & Colleges, one of Malaysia’s largest higher education institutions, has announced the launch of MetaMentor, an online platform offering a range of courses in a traditional classroom setting. The launch event took place at the university’s flagship campus in Kota Damansara, Petaling Jaya.
MetaMentor offers an expanding list of live courses covering various interests, from academics to practical guides on computer software and specific skills essential for students and working adults, as well as general interests. The platform offers around 30 courses taught by professional and experienced tutors for a minimal fee.
According to Stella Lau, Managing Director of SEGi University & Colleges, the creation of MetaMentor focused on making education affordable and accessible to everyone. She added that the platform is the epitome of moving away from the traditional brick-and-mortar classroom setting. Each course is conducted in small groups of like-minded individuals from different academic and professional backgrounds. Participants can also connect with the tutor through 1-on-1 live chats for personalized sessions to build a deeper understanding of the discussed topic.
Lau also stressed the flexibility of the courses, where participants can schedule lessons according to their availability and learn at their own pace without any constraints of time and place. The platform is open to all at https://metamentor.com.my/, including those who want to share their knowledge and skills with others.

The launch of SEGi MetaCampus on July 1, 2022, also marks a significant milestone in the university’s journey towards revolutionizing how students learn, interact, and connect. It is the first-of-its-kind university in the metaverse, offering an immersive learning experience to students.
