Tourism Malaysia recently collaborated with Air Asia to host Taiwanese influencers and bloggers on a familiarisation trip (FAM Trip) to promote Malaysia as a preferred tourist destination. The seven-day, six-night (7D6N) trip saw four influencers and six bloggers take a tour of Kuala Lumpur, Genting Highlands, Redang Island, Port Dickson, Desaru and Johor Bahru from 7 until 13 March 2023.
The participants were immersed in city life and allowed to create social media content on Malaysia’s islands and beaches. The trip began with a visit to the Petronas Twin Towers Skybridge and Observation Deck, where they caught a magnificent bird’s-eye view of Kuala Lumpur, followed by a visit to Batu Caves. The participants also learned the exquisite pewter and crafted their masterpieces at the School of Hard Knocks Workshop, Royal Selangor Visitor Centre.
One of the trip’s highlights was the visit to Redang Island, where participants could experience the pristine white sands and crystal-blue waters. The luxurious sea-view resort in Port Dickson was also a hit among the participants. They experienced the latest must-see attractions of Genting Skyworld Theme Park, Genting Highlands Premium Outlets, and Skytropolis Indoor Theme Park at Genting Highlands.
Participants also got a taste of Desaru Coast and Johor Bahru with the discovery of Desaru Fruit Farm and Sungai Lebam River Cruise, besides hanging out at Puteri Harbour Marina and enjoyed shopping at Johor Premium Outlets – Southeast Asia’s first premium outlet mall.
Air Asia runs daily flights from Taipei and three weekly flights from Kaohsiung to Kuala Lumpur. In addition, passengers can also book twice-weekly flights from Taipei to Kota Kinabalu.
The FAM Trip was an excellent opportunity for Tourism Malaysia and Air Asia to promote Malaysia as a preferred tourist destination. The trip allowed the Taiwanese influencers and bloggers to experience Malaysia’s culture, attractions, and hospitality and create engaging content to showcase Malaysia’s beauty to their followers.
The collaboration between Tourism Malaysia and Air Asia is part of a larger effort to boost Malaysia’s tourism industry, which was hit hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. The Malaysian government has worked closely with tourism industry players to develop new strategies and initiatives to attract more tourists.
In conclusion, the FAM Trip organised by Tourism Malaysia and Air Asia wildly succeeded. The participants had a memorable experience in Malaysia and were able to create engaging content that would showcase Malaysia’s beauty to their followers. With the ongoing efforts to boost Malaysia’s tourism industry, we can expect to see more initiatives and collaborations in the future.
