IPC Shopping Centre is back with its highly anticipated annual waste recycling campaign, aiming to educate and raise awareness about the importance of sustainability.
This year, the campaign introduces ‘Gåva with Your Recyclables,’ offering shoppers the opportunity to increase their recycling efforts while enjoying double rewards.
The campaign runs from today until July 31 and encourages shoppers to recycle paper, plastic, and aluminium at IPC’s Recycling and Buy-Back Centre (RBBC) located at the P1 car park level. Let’s delve into the details of this eco-friendly initiative.
Gåva with Your Recyclables
During the ten-week campaign period, IPC Tack Club Members have the flexibility to recycle as often as they wish to accumulate the required weight for three recyclable waste categories: paper, plastic, or aluminium.
Exclusive rewards await those who meet the weight accumulation criteria:
- Tier 1 Rewards offer RM10 worth of e-vouchers and Tack points for every 6kg accumulation.
- Tier 2 Rewards provide RM10 worth of e-vouchers, Tack points, and a 100% biodegradable Swedish dishcloth for every 10kg accumulation.
However, recyclables cannot be combined with different categories to meet the required weight accumulation. Shoppers’ recycling histories are meticulously recorded and traceable through the Tack Club member activity profile, with rewards easily redeemable at the i-Counter.
Recycling of Used Cooking Oil and Alliance Bank Partnership
In a remarkable move, IPC Shopping Centre has become the first and only shopping centre to partner with Arus Oil to introduce a new recyclable category: used cooking oil.
Shoppers can bring their used cooking oil to the RBBC on selected dates and receive an additional cashback of RM1.40/kg through the Arus Oil application. By entering the exclusive promo code ‘IPCCUS2023’ in the Arus Oil application’s profile tab, shoppers can enjoy even higher rewards at RM1.90/kg cashback.
The first 90 recyclers will also receive a complimentary Jerry Can by presenting their Arus Oil or Tack Club membership at the Arus Oil booth located next to RBBC on the collection dates specified below.
- 27 May, 3 June, 24 June, 8 July, 29 July, 26 August, 23 September 2023 (10 am-8 pm)
Furthermore, IPC Shopping Centre has collaborated with Alliance Bank to reward its credit card holders who actively participate in the waste recycling campaign. Cardholders can receive a canvas bag by recycling a minimum of 6kg of recyclables.
IPC Tack Club members who hold an Alliance Bank card can redeem this exclusive offer at the i-Counter on Level G by presenting their Alliance Bank credit or virtual card.
IPC Shopping Centre’s commitment to sustainability
IPC Shopping Centre is dedicated to promoting sustainable practices and reducing its environmental impact. The centre has implemented various green strategies, including the installation of 2,370 solar panels on the rooftop for renewable energy and rainwater harvesting for toilet flushing and landscaping purposes.
Waste segregation is practised in collaboration with F&B tenants, and partnerships with IKEA and Kloth Cares facilitate textile recycling. To cater to eco-friendly drivers, IPC Shopping Centre will also install fast-charging electric vehicle (EV) stations.
The General Manager of IPC Shopping Centre, Karyn Lim, emphasized that IPC is more than just a shopping destination. It serves as a community hub that inspires visitors to adopt sustainable waste practices.
“As a market leader that puts emphasis in promoting sustainability, the centre regularly conducts various recycling and sustainability programmes for the community to partake in and benefit from. This is also one of our business efforts in echoing the government’s 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development,” she added.
Lim also highlighted that IPC has been rewarding loyal green advocates for over a decade, acknowledging their efforts and aiming to create a social movement focused on reducing the impact of climate change through mindful consumption.
Additional recycling activities at IPC Shopping Centre
In addition to recycling activities, shoppers can engage in a range of fun events throughout the campaign. Weekend Små Club Workshops will educate children about recycling, and their creations will be utilized to decorate the Gåva display on Level 2. A plant and lifestyle bazaar will be held from July 28 to August 6, offering shoppers the opportunity to bring greenery into their homes.
Shoppers can support virtually by posting photos on Facebook or Instagram accounts using the hashtag #IPCGavaGreen featuring their little environmentalists in action at home and redeeming complimentary sticker packs from i-Counter, Level G.
For those that wish to bring more greeneries into their homes, IPC will be hosting a plant and lifestyle bazaar from 28 July until 6 August at Midland, Level G.
