Beam Mobility, the leading micromobility provider in Malaysia, has expanded its services to two more universities in the country: Universiti Selangor (UNISEL) and Universiti Malaysia Pahang (UMP) Gambang.
The move comes as part of Beam Mobility’s ongoing efforts to provide sustainable and convenient transportation options to students and faculty members across the nation.
Beam Mobility’s sustainable solutions for universities
The company’s e-scooters will be available for use on the campuses of both universities, allowing students and staff to quickly and easily travel between classes, dormitories, and other campus facilities.
With the addition of UNISEL and UMP, Beam Mobility’s services will now be available at a total of six universities in Malaysia.
“We’re thrilled to be expanding our services to UNISEL and UMP Gambang,” said Taty Azman, Head of Public Affairs, Beam Mobility Malaysia.
“Our mission is to provide sustainable and affordable transportation solutions to as many people as possible, and we’re excited to work with these universities to achieve that goal.”
Safety and convenience with Beam Mobility
Beam Mobility’s e-scooters are designed with safety in mind, featuring advanced safety features such as built-in lights, dual-braking systems, and virtual docking (virtual parking spots) created to keep the streets clean.
The company also works closely with local authorities and universities to ensure that its services are integrated seamlessly into the campus environment.
In addition to the e-scooters, Beam Mobility has set up an on-site warehouse at each campus to store, charge, and maintain the fleet of e-scooters. This allows the company to provide faster and more efficient service, while also creating job opportunities for students who can manage the fleet on campus.
To ensure this, Beam Mobility recruits students on campus to the Beam Rangers program and provides comprehensive training with the necessary skills to operate and maintain e-scooters safely.
“Ensuring the fleet’s health is crucial for both the campus and the business, and who better to handle this responsibility than the students themselves?
By recruiting students into our Beam Rangers gig workers program, we not only empower the youth to earn income but also cultivate a positive work ethic for their future careers. The best part? They can fulfil their duties without ever leaving the campus grounds!” said Taty.
Beam Mobility’s expansion and positive impact
The launch of Beam Mobility’s services at UNISEL and UMP Gambang is part of the company’s larger expansion plans across Malaysia, with additional campuses expected to be added to its network in the coming months.
For students and staff at these universities, the arrival of e-scooters on campus is a welcomed addition, providing an easy way to get around sustainably. Beam Mobility’s partnership with universities goes beyond providing e-scooters. It encompasses various initiatives to enhance the overall experience and promote safety.
The “Beam in Universities” program includes a Partnership for Low Carbon, where Beam becomes the campus’s electric micromobility partner and contributes to the city’s Low Carbon City Action Plan. Additionally, every rider is covered by Beam’s personal accident insurance, ensuring their safety during rides.
Beam Mobility continues to seek partnership opportunities with local partners and communities interested in bringing sustainable transportation solutions to their areas. For more information and collaboration inquiries, interested parties can connect with Beam at [email protected].
With the success of this expansion, Beam Mobility looks forward to further collaborations and bringing its innovative solutions to more campuses nationwide.
