A police beat base and a toy library have been setup in Subang Jaya SS15 recently, both to fulfill the needs of Subang folks.
The beat base situated at SS15/1A modern market was built to stem the crime rate around the area, where mass students crowd appear to be victims of regular snatch thieves and break-ins.
The beat base is manned by two personnel and operated 24 hours. It can be reached via 03-5633 2222.
Selangor police chief Khalid Abu Bakar when officiating the base last week said the crime index in Subang Jaya had seen a 38 percent drop in the first six months of the year.
“There are only 60 policemen in USJ 8 police station now… I am requesting for more police in Selangor,”
Subang assemblyperson Hannah Yeoh who sponsored the RM7000 base said she hopes to build another 23 bases at identified hotspots provided enough manpower is committed.
“Every beat base will have two personnel, so about 120 personnel are needed to man 23 beat base working in three shifts.
“I don’t mind allocating some funds from my annual budget to buy the beat base to reduce crimes,”
In another development, Makasih Toy Library was setup at Subang Square to encourage learning among children with special needs.
The library features a wide range of toys as well as children’s books and videos.
It also deals with the struggle of parents with such children by providing them a collection of books and material to borrow besides consultant.
The library, located on the first floor of Subang Square, is currently open every first Saturday of the month.
Membership is open to all parents and caregivers of children with special needs at a nominal fee of RM30 per annum and a one time RM10 registration fee.
