Ipoh City Council (MBI) is dedicated to driving sustainable initiatives and has successfully organized the Ipoh Car Free Day (ICFD) program. The primary objective of the ICFD is to transform Ipoh into a Low Carbon City, aligning with the Low Carbon City 2030 Challenge.

As proposed by the National Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency Committee (NRECC), the program aims to raise awareness and reduce carbon emissions in the city, contributing to the national target of a 45 per cent reduction by 2030.

This year, the 61st edition of the ICFD introduced a new addition, the Ipoh Half Marathon (IHM), which garnered significant support and enthusiasm.

The ICFD program serves as a crucial platform for Ipoh City Council to promote sustainable living and reduce carbon emissions.

By organizing car-free days, MBI encourages citizens to adopt alternative modes of transportation, such as walking and cycling, thereby mitigating the city’s environmental impact.

The ICFD program has been instrumental in Ipoh’s transformation into a Low Carbon City, earning recognition and awards for its positive impact on the community and the environment.
