The Customs, Immigration, and Quarantine (CIQ) operations at the Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) in Johor Bahru and the Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (KSAB) in Iskandar Puteri have seen significant improvements in efficiency and effectiveness.
The Johor Chief Minister Onn Hafiz Ghazi, expressed his satisfaction with the positive feedback received regarding the operations at these two entry points.
While congestion issues have been alleviated, he emphasised the need for continuous commitment and preparedness to ensure smooth border crossings, enhance the well-being of people and travellers, and bolster the image of Johor and Malaysia on the global stage.
Johor CIQ congestion issues addressed
Onn Hafiz commended the efforts made to address congestion issues at the land checkpoints between Johor and Singapore.
In a recent Facebook post, he conveyed his congratulations and appreciation to all the parties involved in successfully implementing traffic dispersal measures at BSI and KSAB. The positive feedback received highlights the improved efficiency and preparedness of operations at these immigration complexes.
The Sultan Iskandar Building (BSI) and Sultan Abu Bakar Complex (KSAB) serve as customs, immigration, and quarantine (CIQ) hubs, facilitating travel between Johor and Singapore via the Woodlands Causeway and Tuas Second Link, respectively. Onn Hafiz emphasized that despite the progress made, there is no room for complacency.

Onn Hafiz has been actively involved in monitoring and improving the traffic situation at BSI and KSAB CIQs. Regular visits have allowed him to identify areas for enhancement to ease congestion and enhance operational efficiency.
As part of the ongoing efforts, an additional 250 immigration officers will be deployed to the land checkpoints in Johor by September, in addition to the 100 officers already deployed in June.
To address instances of exceptionally heavy traffic, such as during long weekends, Onn Hafiz has recommended the opening of contra lanes at both BSI and KSAB CIQs. This strategic measure aims to further alleviate congestion and facilitate smoother travel experiences for commuters.
