George Town Festival‘s popular event, Macallum 360 is back for its third edition, promising an exciting weekend for attendees.
The program, which will take place at the community field on Lebuh Macallum tomorrow, July 15, aims to bring world-class cultural performances closer to the local community.
Former Pengkalan Kota assemblyman, Daniel Gooi, expressed his enthusiasm for the festival’s return to the Macallum neighborhood.
During a recent press conference, Gooi highlighted the positive response from the local community over the years, particularly mentioning the overwhelming reception received for the ‘Macallum Rooftop Concert’ held last year.
The success of previous events has paved the way for ‘Macallum 360’ to become a highly anticipated occasion for residents and visitors alike.
‘Macallum 360’ will feature a diverse range of performances, including the enchanting Joget dance by The Wak Long Music & Art Centre, energetic dhol performances by Penang Dhol Blasters, and an interactive angklung workshop conducted by Kicau Bilau.
Attendees will also have the opportunity to participate in creating music using traditional Malay instruments such as kompang and djampe, led by the renowned drum troupe ‘Orang Orang Drum Theatre.’ Additionally, the Crafty Circus will entertain visitors with their mesmerizing circus performances.
Ensuring a memorable experience for the audience, the stage at ‘Macallum 360’ will be strategically set up to provide a 360-degree view, allowing attendees to fully immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere and cultural richness of the performances.
Chai Soon Long, the chairman of Lebuh Macallum Village Community Management Council (MPKK), was also present during the press conference, demonstrating the community’s support for the festival.
The George Town Festival, hosting over 50 programs at various locations, will continue until the end of the month. ‘Macallum 360’ is set to be a highlight of the festival, showcasing the diverse talents and cultural heritage of the region. Visitors can look forward to an unforgettable experience as they indulge in the arts, music, and traditions that make George Town Festival an annual celebration not to be missed.
